The 2013 World Police and Fire Games are coming to Northern Ireland.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland, Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service and Northern Ireland Prison Service will host approximately 10 000 Law Enforcement Officers and Fire-fighters from around the world who will compete in a wide variety of sporting events.

The World Police and Fire Games Belfast 2013 will take place from Thursday 1st to Saturday 10th August 2013.

Malcolm Auchie based at Falkirk Ambulance Station and the organiser of the 999 Eco Adventure race has contacted the FSSAA to inform that the 999 Eco Adventure Race is open to staff from UK Emergency Services including Police, Fire, Ambulance, Coastguard/RNLI and Mountain Rescue.

Competitors participate in trail running, mountain biking and canoeing and have the choice of entering one of three races according to their ability.

The 999 Eco Adventure is a single day multi-discipline adventure race for members of the emergency services in the UK.

The 999 Eco Adventure allows emergency service personnel to come together for a fun and friendly day of adventure racing. Competitors participate in running/walking, mountain biking, canoeing, basic navigation and some mystery tasks on the way!

Staff can enter one of 3 races; Fun, Intermediate or Advanced.

This year the 999 Eco Adventure will take place on 21st August 2010 in the Lake District, Cumbria.

FUN RACE

Teams of 6 competitors (must be mixed sex) will complete the race as a relay with a different pair taking part in each discipline. The disciplines competitors will encounter include:

■running/walking

■mountain biking

■canoeing

Each discipline will take approximately one hour to complete and teams will be required to find their way round the course using very basic navigation. There will also be fun mystery tasks to be carried out at some checkpoints. The race route will be staged over low level hills, forest trails and the water of lochs and/or slow moving rivers.

Entry to this race costs £25 per competitor. A £10 per person deposit is required to secure a teams place.

INTERMEDIATE RACE

Teams of 2 competitors will complete the race as a pair while staying together throughout. The disciplines competitors will encounter include:

■running/walking

■mountain biking

■canoeing

Each discipline will take approximately one hour, hence equating to 3 hours of activity for each competitor. Teams are required to find their way round the course using very basic navigation. There will also be fun mystery tasks to be carried out at some checkpoints. The race route will be staged over low level hills, forest trails and the water of lochs and/or slow moving rivers.

Entry to this race costs £35 per competitor. A £15 per person deposit is required to secure a teams place.

ADVANCED RACE

Teams can be made up of 2 or 4 competitors who will be required to stay together throughout the race. The disciplines competitors will encounter include:

■running/walking

■mountain biking

■canoeing

Each discipline will take approximately two hours, hence equating to 6 hours of activity for each competitor. Teams are required to find their way round the course using basic navigation. There will also be fun mystery tasks to be carried out at some checkpoints. The race route will be staged over mountainous terrain, forest trails and the water of lochs and/or fast moving rivers.

Entry to this race costs £45 per competitor. A £20 per person deposit is required to secure a teams place.

The VUE National Emergency Services Triathlon 2010 is now open for entries. The event provides the opportunity for the Emergency Services to battle it out and see who is top in triathlon!

This sprint distance triathlon for Emergency Services Personnel only (police, fire, ambulance, coastguard, mountain rescue, etc) takes place on 14th May 2010 at the superb National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham. It comprises a 1,500m lake swim, 20km flat cycle stage, and 5km run, and also includes a post-race barbeque! It is open to all Emergency Services personnel including police, fire, ambulance, coastguard and mountain rescue services.

There will be prizes for individuals and this will be an opportunity to see which emergency service is the best at this sport! The event will benefit from numbered racking and electronic chip timing. The start time for this event is set for 12noon.

The last World Firefighter Games were staged in Merseyside in 2008 and without a doubt were an unforgetable experience for the organisers and all those who took part. This webpage has been established to help inform current and retired members of UK FRS what to expect if they are hoping to compete in the next World Firefighters Games DAEGU 2010. The information is evolving all the time therefore expect regular changes and updates. A downloadable summary document containing all the relevant information listed below will be available here very soon.

world police and fire games 2013The uniformed services Battle of the Badges 2010 UK & Ireland 6 a-side football takes place between the 19th and 21st March 2010 at the Meadowbank Stadium, Magherafelt, Northern Ireland.

Teams consist of 1 goalkeeper, 5 outfield players and 4 subs

Subs will be used on a roll on roll off basis

Price per team £120 which includes transportation from airport to accommodation and return journey as well as lunch on day of soccer tournament and games pack.
