Taking part in the West Wight Wander us subject to the walk rules, which is for your own safety and the safety of others.

Each walker or group of walkers must carry OS Map 1:25,000, first aid kit and compass.

Each walker must have suitable footwear, carry spare food and drink and waterproofs.

No runners.

Each walker must show his/her tally at the checkpoints to checkpoint marshalls.

Any walker wishing to retire from the event may only do so at a recognised checkpoint where transportation back to the finish will be arranged.

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT WALKERS DO NOT JUST DROP OUT OR GO HOME WITHOUT TELLING ANYONE.

Anybody under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Please observe the Country Code and keep dogs under strict control or on a lead.

All walkers (and their dogs !) take part at their own risk. In the event of an accident render first aid and notify a marshall.

Last year’s walk was held on 5 October but unfortunately the weather was extremely wet and windy and conditions underfoot were very soggy. There were very few walkers but those hardy souls that took part, apart from getting a good soaking, were able to enjoy some of the beautiful scenery on offer and appreciate the elements in action.

Having moved the event to a summer date it is very much hoped that the weather will be kinder and more people will be drawn to the island to be able to appreciate the fantastic beauty of the coast and landscape.
