Last year’s walk was held on 5 October but unfortunately the weather was extremely wet and windy and conditions underfoot were very soggy. There were very few walkers but those hardy souls that took part, apart from getting a good soaking, were able to enjoy some of the beautiful scenery on offer and appreciate the elements in action.
Having moved the event to a summer date it is very much hoped that the weather will be kinder and more people will be drawn to the island to be able to appreciate the fantastic beauty of the coast and landscape.
The Walking section organiser, as at May 2009, are Jan King, Fire Control Centre (janice.king@iow.gov.uk) and Trish Wendes, Fire Control Centre (trish.wendes@iow.gov.uk) or telephone 01983 525 121 (Fire Control).
